Home At Last
It had been a long long wait from meeting first Martouf then Khepra on the 21st March, Astarte on 17th April and finally Omar on the 15th May before we were able to bring home the first three on the 18th June. Losing Skamp just 3 weeks after finding Touf and Kheps had not helped at all with the wait.
Martouf, Khepra and Astarte were the first ones to come home. On the way to picking them up we called in to see Skamp who is at Dignity - the pet crematorium in Odiham. He has a lovely spot with other loved friends. It was good to now know where he is. It was then time to head off to our breeders for the new family. Although it was really Martouf, Khepra and Astartes day we couldn't go all the way there without first seeing Omar. After playing with him for a while we went in to collect the troups. We said bye to Amanuet who luckily was going to be picked up later in the day, and bundled our three into their carrying box with their toys (it is a _big_ box). Be prepared for some crying ...... There was a little at first, then the 2 boys hunkered down and Astarte sat at the front of the box looking out. It seemed to be the longest drive ever home - but finally we were there. See First Ones Home for what happened next.
Then finally we got to the week that Omar was due home. In making the arrangements we were given the opportunity of picking him up in the evening of the day before we were expecting to pick him up. We would have been stupid to have said no. So off again to our breeders to pick up Omar and bring him home to meet the others. Fingers crossed that there was not going to be too many problems. The biggest problem was the commutre traffic on the!! Friday 5pm anywahere especially at the beginning of school holidays is mayhem. See Omar Comes Home for the photo story of them all meeting.
It was with mixed feelings that we headed off to pick up Malika on the 6th August. We were really looking forward to formally meeting Malika and bringing her home, yet knowing we were only there because Ttouf was no longer with us. See Malika comes home.
